On August 23, 2008 members of the Local 786 Executive board as well as staff and Local 786 members attended the dedication of Rt. 173 in Antioch to be renamed the 173rd Airborne Brigade Memorial Highway. Joint Council #25, a strong supporter of our Armed Forces and men and women serving our country, made the Joint Council #25 truck available for the festivities. Local 786 member John Hardy drove the truck, co piloted by Local 786 Union Steward Rich Garcia. Also in attendance was Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, who brought along the Jesse White Tumblers who put on an energizing performance for those attending the event. Secretary of State White, a close friend of Teamsters Local 786 and honorary member, received the 101st Airborne Maxwell G. Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedicated service to his country as well as for his continuing support for our troops. Local 786 is proud of our work for our members and our work through the Helmets to Hardhats program and remains committed to both in the future.
